Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey

1 to 2 hours

Glorious architecture, so many stories and characters, the Abbey has something for everyone. Very family friendly too.

London's royal church for over 1,000 years. The Abbey is jam-packed, home to more than 3,300 memorials and burials of some of the greatest Britons that ever lived as well as many of our kings, queens and many other famous royals. So many colourful characters!

A Gothic wonder, built over 600 years ago where most of our 40 kings and queens have been crowned, ever since William the Conqueror on Christmas Day 1066.

The Abbey has hosted royal weddings since the 1300s.

In 2011 Prince William and Catherine Middleton tied the knot at the Abbey, amid much pomp and celebration. Join me for a tour and I can show you where all of the royal family members were situated for the event.

There are 16 kings and queens of England and Britain are buried at the Abbey.

Allow me to tell you about them, including stories of their sometimes grisly deaths.
Famous writers such as 19th century novelist Charles Dickens can be found too. We’ll see where he is buried and his memorial stone.

The Abbey is a working church today and if you visit on the anniversary of Dickens' death, you may well see somebody lay flowers for him. The memorial of 16th/17th century playwright and writer William Shakespeare can be seen also.

Possibly the most important or moving burial and memorial to be seen inside the Abbey is that of the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. The anonymous burial of one WWI British Commonwealth soldier that represents over 300,000 men and women that not only lost their lives but whose bodies could not be located.

It is the first memorial and burial of its kind found anywhere in the world.

This building is so special to us guides; it really brings together so much of Britain's history together under one roof and I hope I can share it with you.

Admission tickets are required in order to visit. Contact me for more information.
