Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace

2 to 2 1/2 hours

Fun for all ages, Kensington Palace (KP) has it all.

Gorgeous rooms packed with fascinating items, along with some small but very beautiful gardens. You can even have afternoon tea at the palace and see dozens of swans in the nearby Round Pond.

KP is London's most exclusive and private royal residence and has been home to the Royal Family for over 300 years.

The most impressive and historically important part of the palace has been open to the public to visit for little more than a century.

Built for our only joint monarchs King William III and Queen Mary II in the late 1680s, by designer, astronomer and architect Christopher Wren.

It was the main residence of the monarch (reigning King or Queen) of the country until the time of King George II, who unfortunately… died whilst on the toilet at the palace in October 1760. The toilet he died on is not on display, but you can see the stunning Royal State Apartments where you can walk in the footsteps of royal courtiers, kings, queens, as well as ... Peter the Wild Boy… and - it gets better - William Hester, the palace rat catcher!

Queen Victoria was born in the palace and lived there until becoming queen aged 18 years old. We’ll explore her recreated rooms and see items that once belonged to her including many childhood dolls, dresses and even lockets containing the hair of some of her and her husband Prince Albert's nine children and did you know that royals continue to live at the palace today.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's late sister Princess Margaret lived at the palace for forty years. Since the 1960s right up to her death in 2002 but arguably the palace's most well-known resident must be Princess Diana (who lived at the palace for just 15 years with her boys, Prince William and Prince Harry). We'll get to see Princess Diana's recently erected statue in the palace's Sunken Garden and see some of her most famous dresses and outfits inside the palace too.
